RK BTS uses SDR from SS7ware on commodity hardware instead of special-purpose FPGA or DSP boards, reducing the size, cooling and shelter requirements and power consumption of the BTS, resulting in lower civil infrastructure costs.Unifying the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and the Base Station Controller (BSC) eliminates the costly Abis interface for traffic and signalling.
Our complete software-defined mobile network solution relies on using the RK BTS/RK ENB together with SS7ware Core Network.Our RK Unified Core Network implements the functions of both GSM/GPRS and LTE core networks and can be used to build new, mixed 2G/4G networks, or can be integrated in existing deployments.Our RK BTS is an intelligent radio access network component communicating directly with our unified core network to simplify the network infrastructure.RK BTS performs all the functions of the BSC and partially of the MSC (Mobile Switching Center) and the SGSN (Serving GPRS Support Node) – mobility, power and frequency management, handover.For handover, RK BTS contains the IP list of all the neighboring RK BTS units. The RK base stations use the SIP protocol to transmit between each other the frequency, the Base Station Identity Code (BSIC) and the Cell-ID of each base station, since the architecture does not included BSCs.The RK BTS integrates a parts of the MSC and the SGSN, any custom features at BSC-MSC level (such as local call switching and local IP access) can be supported.With no BSC, scalability of the core can be easily achieved because each RK BTS can communicate, at any point, with any unified core in the network.RK BTS reduced idle traffic and latency requirements make satellite backhaul feasible.

Unified EPC/IMS Core Network ( SDR from SS7ware)
We offer unified core network solution intended for new LTE networks, for upgrading GSM/GPRS networks to LTE or for extending existing LTE networks.This software-defined core implements all the functions and protocols of the LTE core network in software, and uses commodity hardware. It integrates the EPC layers – MME, S-GW, P-GW, PCRF, and PCEF.It also includes the IMS layers for VoLTE – P-CSCF, I/S-CSCF, IWF, and BGW.It communicates with the RK ENB (LTE eNodeB module) over S1AP and GTP protocols and uses a JSON API for configuration and management.
Unified GSM/GPRSCore Network
Our unified core also implements the functions and protocols of GSM/GPRS core networks. In GSM/GPRS,it acts as a MSC/VLR/SGSN/GGSN/GMSC in a single server. It connects to the RK BTS (GSM module) over GTP and SIP, replacing the costly SS7 MAP-A interface (BSSAP protocol). This leads to a higher return on investment without affecting the reliability of the network or the provided services.
The unified core network solution is based on replacing the eNodeB with the ENB (LTE) and the base station subsystem with the BTS (GSM).
Remote access for operations and management
It is easy to operate and manage remotely using the Mobile Management Interface (MMI) online. The interface makes it accessible to add a new unified core unit, to setup a cluster of multiple core, to configure a single unified core function (MSC/VLR, GMSC, SGSN, GGSN, SGW or PGW), to configure unified core equipment with all its GSM/GPRS/LTE functions and more. With MMI operators can remotely manage their entire network equipment using a single web interface.
